STI’s Safety program promotes individual responsibility and accountability by providing employees with full authority to stop any work activity that represents a potential danger to the working crew or the public. We consistently reinforce our principles with safety education, training, and recognition for achievement at all levels of our organization.
Company Safety Philosophy
It is the safety policy of the company to provide a safe workplace for all team members.
While responsibility for implementing the safety policy resides with front line supervision and management, all team members are responsible for safety.
Any accident is an unacceptable occurrence and thus the objective of this policy is zero accidents.
The overall development and direction of the company’s Safety program is the mission and primary responsibility of the Safety Department.
All team members are responsible for preventing injuries. Performance should reflect this responsibility and the effectiveness of the individual in meeting safety objectives.
Safety is as much a part of each supervisor and manager’s responsibility as are product costs, labor relations and any other management concern.
Each supervisor must be regarded as the source of safety information for all team members reporting to him or her. All supervisory personnel are responsible, and will be held accountable for, conducting periodic safety inspections of their facilities.
Accidents, injuries, unsafe work practices and unsafe conditions will be investigated, documented and will serve as a basis for taking the corrective action necessary to prevent recurrence. Safety training for both new and experienced team members is a continuous supervisory function.
The company will comply with all safety regulations enacted by local, state or federal agencies to protect our workers, the communities and our customers.
Management considers its first responsibility to be the safety and health of all its team members. In accepting this responsibility, a safety program has been established to provide a safe and healthful workplace. Management will provide the necessary resources to carry out this program and will comply with all applicable federal, state and local requirements.
Control of potential safety and health hazards and their elimination is the primary objective of this company’s safety program.
Managers and supervisors at every level are accountable and will accordingly implement and enforce safety policies and safe procedures that encourage team members to remain accident free, be on the constant alert for unsafe practices and conditions and take action to eliminate such practices and conditions if they occur. In turn every team member must accept responsibility to prevent injuries to themselves and others by following the safety policies and procedures outlined in this program. In doing so, team members, families, the environment and the company will benefit.
All team members shall observe this policy, under the direction of management and with the guidance of our supervisors, that will reduce accidents and unnecessary losses and will make the company more competitive and safeguard our jobs.
